BUBBLES in Theory and in Markets

Jungsuk Han, Associate Professor of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics will give a non-technical overview of the theory of Bubbles. Are bubbles rational? How can we identify a bubble? Why do they start and persist? How do they end? How do they affect the economy? What do we know about different bubbles such as stock market bubbles, housing bubbles, or Bitcoin bubbles?

Torbjörn Iwarson, Commodity Market Specialist at Skandia Investment Management will comment on the occurrence of Bubbles in the markets. There will be plenty of time for discussion with the audience.

Jungsuk Han obtained his doctoral degree in 2010 at London Business School, and joined the Finance department at the SSE in 2010. His research interest includes asset pricing with imperfect information, financial intermediation, and limits to arbitrage. His work has been published in academic journals like Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics and Management Science.

Torbjörn Iwarson has a long career in Financial Markets with a focus on commodities markets. He has written books and is a frequent commentator on commodities markets in media. The seminar will be moderated by Pehr Wissén, Swedish House of Finance.

The seminar takes place at the Swedish House of Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics, Drottninggatan 98, through the portal first door left.
